Maria’s Holistic health journey started alongside her mental health journey. With several misdiagnoses and medications with a longer list of adverse effects than symptoms, she started re-educating herself on the brain-to-gut connection. With Dr. Mel & Dr. Elsa’s help, she’s now off of her medication and back to equilibrium without having to be invasive to her body. Maria is now on a journey to impact others in the same ways she has been and has a passion for root cause medicine. Her greatest strength is empathy and connecting with others and she can’t wait to talk to you about how to transform your gut and mind to heal from within.
Roya Nabi is a pharmacist who graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Pharmacy in 2018. She also has a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology. She has 5 years of pharmacy experience ranging from community, Specialty Pharmacy, and Long Term Care, Pharmacy Manager, to Consultant Pharmacist, respectively. Her journey with gut health started ten years ago when she took a prescribed medication for cystic acne for a year. This triggered a series of gut imbalances and inflammation that resulted in years of worsening digestive symptoms.
As a pharmacist, she found it difficult to treat symptoms without a specific plan for the long term, and quickly realized that conventional medicine has the one-size-fits-all approach that treats symptoms; however, this method did nothing to alleviate her gut problems and she was always in an endless trial-and-error method. She found that through Dr. Mel’s Root Cause Approach, she was able to heal herself from the inside out: from detoxing the liver, to minimizing inflammation, and ultimately treating her leaky gut. She’s now passionate about spreading this Root Cause approach, as a long-term solution to both gut health restoration and mindset transformation, respectively.
Roya enjoys an active lifestyle through CrossFit, Pilates, and hiking and enjoys a healthy home-cooked meal curled up with a good book. She's excited about taking clients through their own transformational journey through holistic health and mindset approaches.

From a young age, she grew up with holistic medicine and later found it to be her life goal to spread holistic awareness. Seeing the growth of TikTok she saw it as an opportunity to spread this sought-out awareness. She amassed a large following quickly finding that there was a community already built to further her message. Being on TikTok made it very apparent that there are hundreds of thousands of people struggling and suffering from health issues all connected to the same “root cause” so she continues to spread her message in hopes of reaching all those in need.
She loves doing yoga and meditation first thing in the morning. She supports empowerment, women, and consciousness causes. In her free time, she works for a federal nonprofit organization and helps with spreading awareness.
The gut is often referred to as the “second brain” and more times than not the “root cause” of many health problems. When an imbalance in your gut happens there are more bad bacteria than good which leads to symptoms you might be experiencing. Furthermore, it’s correlated with symptoms you might not even realize are symptoms.
Medicine can provide temporary relief from symptoms but does it address what’s actually causing your discomfort? Finding the root cause is more effective in providing long-term relief and results in overall health and wellness. In general, this takes more time and effort to accomplish but with our systems, we’ve reduced both drastically.
